About PAGE GelRed
PAGE GelRed® has excitation peaks at 308 nm and 551 nm and an emission peak at 625 nm. PAGE GelRed® uses a novel approach to make the dye membrane impermeable without making the dye large, unlike the original GelRed® and GelGreen® dyes, where the dyes’ membrane impermeability was achieved by mainly making the dyes physically large. The relatively large size of GelRed® and GelGreen® make the dyes difficult to penetrate into the more densely packed polyacrylamide gels. PAGE GelRed® readily stains dsDNA in densely packed polyacrylamide gels while still possessing the benefits that the Original GelRed® is known for: safety, sensitivity, stability, and compatibility with existing instruments and downstream sample analysis.
